  3. TWAIN is a software connection that provides an easy way to get scanned pictures directly into documents.  Any software program that supports TWAIN can start the HP PictureScan software for scanning.  Software programs that support TWAIN usually have a File menu command, like Acquire, to start the HP PictureScan software.  See your word processing software's documentation to determine if it supports TWAIN and to learn how to scan directly from that software.
